Argentina’s new president not to sever relations with Russia, China, Brazil - adviser

BUENOS AIRES, November 23. /TASS/. Argentine President-elect Javier Milei will nor sever relations with Russia, China, and Brazil, despite his disapproval of their policies, Milei's foreign policy adviser Diana Mondino said.
"It is absurd to say that we will sever ties with Brazil and China. There is no logic in it. There will be neither severance nor changes. That’s impossible," she said in an interview with the TN television channel.
She answered in the negative to the question about possible termination of diplomatic relations with Russia. "Diplomatic relations exist to settle conflicts. The situation should be extremely serious even to revoke the ambassador," Mondino added.
On November 19, Argentina held runoff presidential election. Javier Milei, who leads the Libertarian Party, affiliated with the right-wing Freedom Advances alliance, outperformed Economy Minister Sergio Massa. Milei will be inaugurated on December 10.
During the election campaign, Milei repeatedly stated that he does not intend to develop interstate relations with Brazil, China and Russia because of his disagreement with the policies of these states. At the same time, he stated that he would not prevent private companies from doing business with these countries. He considers Israel and the US as Argentina's priority allies. Milei's foreign policy adviser Diana Mondino said in late October that the Freedom Advances alliance saw no point in Argentina's participation in BRICS, where the country was admitted following the group's August summit. She did not rule out however that this position may change.
